Significance
Krishna is worshipped here as Dwarkadhish, the king of Dwarka, the western coastal city associated with his life. Dwarka is one of the four Char Dham of India.
The five-storey temple, known as the Jagat Mandir, rises above the meeting of the Gomti creek and the Arabian Sea.
History
The present temple is traditionally dated to around the 15th–16th centuries, on a site linked in tradition to Krishna's Dwarka and rebuilt over many centuries.
