Significance
Shiva is worshipped here as Vaidyanath, the divine healer. The shrine is one of the most visited Jyotirlinga temples in eastern India.
During the month of Shravan, hundreds of thousands of kanwariyas walk from Sultanganj carrying Ganga water to offer at Deoghar — one of the largest pilgrim gatherings in the world.
History
The temple is an ancient and long-revered Jyotirlinga site in the Santhal Parganas region; its complex includes numerous smaller shrines around the main Vaidyanath temple.

In Deoghar, Jharkhand. Deoghar has a railway station and an airport; many pilgrims travel from Sultanganj during Shravan.
